At Das Kiebitz Bier, our journey began with an exciting experiment in distilling potato vodka. Our founder, Alexander Kiebitz embraced this venture as his introduction to the world of alcohol production. This initial experience ignited a deep curiosity and passion that guided Alexander towards mastering the art of brewing, setting the foundation for our future success.
Alexander's passion for beer was kindled while bartending at a German restaurant. He enjoyed sampling the various German beers he served, developing a deep appreciation for their rich flavors and craftsmanship. This newfound love for German beer coincided perfectly with the opening of a brew shop in his hometown of San Pedro Sula. Eager to learn, Alexander joined a homebrewing course and began experimenting with brewing his own beer at home. His early attempts were a mix of triumphs and mishaps, with some beers even exploding inside his grandmother's fridge. Despite these challenges, he created some truly delicious Hefeweizen beers, a style that remains his favorite to this day.
Determined to understand why some of his beers failed and how he could improve, Alexander decided to take his brewing seriously. This commitment led him to Germany, where he completed a rigorous brewing apprenticeship. The hands-on experience and deep knowledge he gained there were invaluable, solidifying his expertise and passion for the craft.
Upon returning home, Alexander and his father, John, decided to create their own beer brand, focusing on authentic German beer styles. After a successful test batch run and overwhelmingly positive reviews, Das Kiebitz Bier officially launched in 2024. Our commitment to quality and traditional brewing methods quickly set our beer apart, earning the love and respect of beer enthusiasts. At Das Kiebitz Bier, we are driven by a deep passion for the German brewing tradition and the Reinheitsgebot, the German Beer Purity Law of 1516. This ancient law mandates that beer be made only from water, malt, hops, and yeast, ensuring the highest quality and purity.
